An airport official in the Libyan capital Tripoli says flights resumed out of the country's airports after they were halted for over seven hours due to a strike by air traffic controllers.
The official said the controllers went on strike Sunday to demand better pay and upgraded navigation and communications equipment. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media, called their demands legitimate. There was a backlog of passengers at airports in Tripoli, as well as in Benghazi, Misrata and other cities.
Flights resumed by Sunday evening. It was not clear if the controllers' demands were met.
